The Five Most Beautiful Beaches in Costa Rica
With nearly 300 beaches to choose from, finding a beautiful beach in Costa Rica is easy. Here are five of our favorites.
Punta Uva – Limón. Located halfway between Puerto Viejo and Manzanillo, this is a spectacular slice of Caribbean heaven. Turquoise waters, white sand, and a great local restaurants make Punta Uva a must-see on your trip to Limón.
Playa Conchal – Guanacaste. This beach is famous for the mountain of seashells that compose the shore. The water is clear, which makes for good snorkeling. And even with the all-inclusive Melia Conchal Beach and Golf Resort, Conchal is rarely crowded.
Manuel Antonio – Central Pacific. Many say Manuel Antonio is one of the prettiest beaches in the world, and the large numbers of tourist who arrive every year tend to agree. With several stunning beaches backed by craggy, lush mountainsides, nature’s creation reaches perfection in Manuel Antonio.
Flamingo – Guanacaste. Luxurious private residences line the beach at Flamingo. Water sports and seaside relaxation is the only game in town. In fact, there is no town center at Flamingo Beach, so come prepared.
Playa Uvita – Costa Ballena. There is a tómbolo at Punta Uvita that stretches a kilometer out to sea and, from the air, looks like a whale’s tail (hence the name: Ballena means “whale” in Spanish). In several of the park’s islands, the ocean has carved caves that, when the waves are strong, shoot streams of water skyward like blowholes.
